Care of your Jewelry
Properly caring for silver and resin jewelry will protect the beauty of the pieces. Often mild soap and water will be sufficient to clean the surface. To prevent damage to the silver, keep your jewelry away from harsh chemicals and cleaning products as well as anything sharp or abrasive that may scratch the surface. Never let resin come in contact with acetone (nail polish remover), any other harsh chemicals, or any sharp or abrasive products.
Sterling silver jewelry will tarnish with exposure to the air, so the best way to deal with tarnish is to prevent it from occurring.
To prevent tarnish:
-
Store your silver jewelry in a sealed plastic bag or other airtight container.
-
Use anti-tarnish strips inside of the sealed container. These absorb pollutants in the air that cause silver to tarnish. Note that anti-tarnish strips will not remove existing tarnish, but if used correctly in airtight containers it should prevent tarnish from occurring.
To remove tarnish from your silver:
-
Use a jewelry polishing cloth to clean the silver.
-
Often mild non-abrasive soap and water will clean your jewelry.
-
You may use a non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth to remove tarnish. Stay away from any abrasive cleaners because they will scratch both the silver and the resin.
